Time: 10 minutes
Materials Needed:
- Yellow Construction Paper (1 piece per 4 children)
- Scissors (for preparation only)
- 1 pencil
- Several black marking pens for the children to share
- 1 flashlight
Preparation:
Before the party – cut rectangle shapes from the construction paper that when folded in half will completely cover the head of a flashlight. Use the head of the flashlight to trace (in pencil) a circle from the head of the flashlight onto one inside half of the folded construction paper.
Before you play – none.
Introducing the Game:
“If you could picture the man in the moon, how would he appear on a moonlit night?”
How to Play:
The children use the black marking pens to draw a funny face within the traced circle. Return the paper to its folded position. The host will hold the backside of the drawing directly over the head of the flashlight with the folded flap covering the drawing. The face is hidden and all that is visible is yellow construction paper. Turn on the flashlight to reveal the “man in the moon.” Everyone will have a turn to see their hidden picture as the host reveals each “man in the moon” to all of the children.
Favors:
Everyone can keep their “man in the moon.”
